Meet Russ Thornberry

Many life events have inspired Russ Thornberry in his career. He has a family history in the insurance world that inspired him. Both his father and grandfather worked in the insurance field and his great-grandfather started a business college. He was also born with severe dyslexia, resulting in school challenges and not learning to read until 4th grade. He was able to overcome his own personal challenges and knows that others can too.


He says, “In life, work is the ticket and family is the ride. I show up every day to make my family proud. But my biggest secret is that helping others become financially stable can be just as rewarding as serving my family."


With a background in planning, his expertise lies in retirement income planning through the lens of lowering fees, reducing risk and minimizing taxes. He prioritizes listening to his clients and their stories over talking so he can really understand their needs. His satisfaction comes from knowing he has a hand in helping to improve someone’s life after working together.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University.
  • Series 65 licensed, certified fiduciary.
  • Life Insurance Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) certified.
  • State life and health insurance licensed in CA, WA, TX, NC, TN, MO, GA, FL and others.
  • Started career as a financial planner for Metlife.
  • Served as Manager of Financial Services for Prudential Financial.
  • Started division of National Life Group with business partners.
  • Went independent in 2015 and currently clears investments through Charles Schwab. 

Personal Life:

  • Married to wife Deanna since 2008.
  • Father to three wonderful children: Ivan, Ellie and Liv.
  • Attends church in Menifee, CA, since 2006.
  • Attends his children’s soccer and gymnastics events.
  • Enjoys exercise, nature and spending time with family.
